Ripoff Left us hanging on the side of the road with a 5 month old baby Houston

I took my wife and son on vacation. I rented a Chrystler Sebring from Enterprise and while I was in Houston, TX I got a flat tire. I called Enterprise's "ROADSIDE ASS-istance" to come and help me. They then asked me if I had a donut in the back. I told them I did and they asked if I could change it.

Relucntantly, I did so and though well no big deal. I called them back told them I had changed the tire out with a donut. I asked them if they could trade us out with another vehicle, and I even told them I would drive to the nearest Enterprise location.

They then informed me that they would not trade vehicles out with me, that I had to take the tire and get it patched (On my own vacation time and gas expenxe no less) and they would reimburse me the money.

Here I am in the middle of Houston I have no idea where I am at or where I need to go, and they want me to spend more of my time hunting down a tire repair shop.

I went ahead and spent 2 hours looking for a tire shop and finally found one. I went in to have the tire repaired, but was told by the repair shop that the location of the puncture made it impossible to fix and the whole tire had to be replaced.

I thought they would trade out with me for sure. Guess what? It got worse.

When I called the "Roadside Ass-istance" they wanted me to purchase a whole tire for THEIR car, and they would reimburse me on my bill. They wanted me to use the only cash I had for my vacation to by a tire on a vehicle that was not even mine. If I wanted to buy tires for a car I would have brought my own.

When I refused to buy a tire the guy on the other line told me that I could drive back home (over 250 miles) on the donut. He wanted me to drive with my five month old son on a major US hwy with a donut on my car. The minimum speed limit on the hwy is 45 mph. Do these people even read the actual donut itself. It says "For Temporary Use Only", as in to the nearest tire shop. When I told him that I would not drive on the donut he finally gave me their 12 digit account code to Firestone. Of course I had to find the firestone myself, but hey why not I've already wasted half of my vacation anyway. I found a firestone and had the tire replaced.

It doesn't stop there. As I was on my way home I felt my car swaying and wobbling, so I got out and checked the car. It seems that the lugnuts on the replaced tire were not tightened properly. I retightened them and made it home it one piece. It seems that Enterprise is in to population control with their, "AAAHhh, Just drive on the donut, yea the donut, " attitude. They risked my family and especially my son's life just to save a few bucks and their own time.

None of that crap with the loose lugnuts would have happened if they would have done what their stupid slogan says. "We'll pick you up." Rent-AT-YOUR-OWN-RISK!!!
