In good faith I bought a 1979 Dodge custom 100 truck for $7,500 which I was assured by Art Hansen salesman of Deals On Wheels Wasilla, Alaska that the vehicle had been through a safety check. After a month had passed things started to go wrong. The vehicle was taken to an independent journeyman mechanic who at once determined that the vehicle was in such a bad state of repair that it could not be on the road untill repairs had been made. Only one brake out of four was working. The rear brakes had been jury rigged. The rear transmission seals had been patched with grease, they could have been re-newed, but the grease which had been added to the old seals had spread over the rear brake shoes creating an exteremely dangerous situation.
An inspection of the brake master cylinder found it to be inoperable. Front right brake calliper was inoperable. The front wheel bearing was disintregrated and had been put back " broken" and packed with freash grease. All parts are saved and can be seen at any time for proof of written statement The " As is" term that the owners state is as far as I am concerned is void and is not applicable here. This garage knew of the dangerous condition and created more problems within this vehicle and yet they patched it up. This being the case they willfully and knowingly sold a dangerous vehicle.
This company then sold the vehicle to a single mother with kids with no consideration to their safety. They have been reported to the state of Alaska, s consummer prtection agency and to this date will not answer the allegations set against them. They have been reported to the FTC also. I have an independent written statement of the many defects on this vehicle by an independent journyman mechanic.
Mr Art Hansen Deals on Wheels salesperson also has verbaly stated racial remarks when approached to discuss and rectify. It is a total disgrace that this company is trading under the BBB and yet will not answer to the most serous allegations, that they sold a dangerous vehicle without due care and attention even although they were well aware of its condition at the time of sale To this date the BBB has done nothing to protect the consummer they are only interested in the seller who they seem to protect by qiuckly closing complaints.
I could not contact the person who was unavailable and therefore the BBB closed the complaint. The BBB has apparently an auto complaint department whereas they could check the statements made and investigate the alligations. Apparently Deals On Wheels are not part of this part of the BBB, Why would that be? The company has contacted and has stated that the problems were after one month and they feel that it is unreasonable for me to complain as it was an as is sale. We have challenged this company to let a mechanic of the BBB choice look over the parts removed, question the mechanic who discovered the jury rigged state and the vehicles dangerous condition at the time of examination. Deals on Wheels and the BBB state that they have closed this case with the BBB. Why is this allowed that the BBB portray themselfs as a consummer mediator when clearly they side with the mighty dollor gobble, gobble school of economic buisnesses.
