Asked new car salesman why price of grand am increased by $3000 from msrp on the sheet he was writing on. He told me due to upgrade of v6 engine and automatic transmission. The finance guy told me it was because of the finance charges.
The reason why it increased was due to dealer added equipment and services. Located on the supplemental consumer dealer ticket that was removed by the salesman prior to the test drive and then "lost". I was never shown a window sticker of any type. My wife had handled most of the transaction prior to me coming in and signing the contract of which they claimed once I signed there was no going back. I could not back out. My wife was anxious to get the car and even she had inquired about the price increase and was told about upgrade in the cars option package.
Actually it was due to hand waxing, paint shield, window engraving, rust proof, interior shield, sound sheild and my favorite: Dealer Profit: $1500. Had I seen this "ticket" sticker thing I would have NEVER purchased the car. They are real slick.
Another dealer was participating in the Pontiac Smart Value Package Deal. I could have gotten the same car with a better stereo, power roof, chrome wheels for Less than what I paid for at Terry Shaver Pontiac. I signed the form and now I am out of luck.
