New pay plan for drivers a ripoff

I have worked for papa johns for 9 years as a delivery driver. During that time i was seen my wage steadily decrease, when inflation and gasoline prices are factored in. At one time we had a "driver incentive program" that gave a little something back to drivers for longevity and safe driving. That program was cut several years ago under the cover of "reorganization" for a better plan that never happened. Just recently papa johns rolled out a new pay plan for it's drivers, a cutting edge new approach that would benefit us, we were told.instead of me making my hourly wage of $7.15 per hour, and $1.15 per delivery, i would now be making a premium wage of $8.25 per hour when i was working in the store and $4.25 per hour when i was deliver pizza AND $1.27 per delivery. The problem is that delivery drivers spend 90 percent of their time on the road delivering pizza. So the net result for me, and many other drivers in the austin area as been decrease in weekly pay ranging from $25 per week up to $60 per week, depending upon the number of hours per week a driver works. I have voiced my complaint to my GM, and and to my local director of operations but both to no avail.in fact, the director of operations is telling us that we must be mistaken because the new plan has worked successfully in areas of the country. I'm no rocket scientist, but i know a snow job when i see it.in one fail swoop papa johns has effectively cut the average driver wage by around $1.50 per hour for an entire region, and just in time for the holidays. Moral is at an all-time low. The company literature always boasts about how delivery drivers are the backbone of the business, however, in action this is rarely the case. Wanna save a buck, ripoff the drivers, has become the company philosophy. Thanks papa johns!
