Unfair paycheck discriminating managers unfair hours, no benefits to full-time employees Ripoff

I worked for Arby's for eight months. For the first three months, I was a backliner only because I was 18. The general manager at that time came to me with the offer to be a shift manager. At that time I was part time. As a manager, I would go full-time and would get a pay raise. They mentioned nothing about benefits, which leads me to believe that Arby's doesn't even offer benefits. What kind of "employee-oriented company" does not offer their full-time working adult employees benefits?

The GM basically shoved the position on me and wouldn't leave me alone until I accepted. The pay raise was only $. 50, which they apologized for. Apparently I was supposed to get $1.00 pay raise instead and I was retropaid for that. I was then making $7.25 an hour. As a manager. I ran an entire store as its leader for six-seven hours a night and I was barely making ends meet. I would have to be the one to defend against a robber and I was almost at my wits end for cash as well.

Next, I was still considered part time. The most hours I ever worked in one week was 37. A manager should get at least 40, all of the other shift managers were getting more hours than me and I consider that unfair. I did my job just as well if not better than they did.

The other managers were very vindictive and judgemental towards me, I felt that they rallied together and made me feel like I was two inches tall. Everything was my fault. I caused every problem. If I said one thing wrong it would be taken as racist or sexist (I am a female.) My job was threatened because an amount of money was missing from a cash drawer but I nor the person operating it DID NOT take it. I had $19 taken out of my paycheck to pay for that amount missing but the cashier only had $10 taken out of his.

Just before the time I became fed up with the way I was being treated, I asked my new general manager for a raise. She said I did not deserve one and that I would have to work harder. I worked harder than anybody else to earn her and everyone else's approval and do the best job I could. Newer shift managers were making two dollars more than me. I was being ripped off for my hard labor and job expertise, I'd been there long enough to know every station back and front.

I finally decided that I was better than all of this. I gave my notice and said that I was offered another job with better pay and benefits. My GM offered to give me a raise THEN AND ONLY THEN. She said she looked at my employee report and saw that I was STILL making $7.25 an hour after five months as a shift manager. I knew from seeing other people's employee reports that regular cashiers were making only 25 cents less than me and did half as much work. I told her that the plea came a little too late, had I been offered a raise three months before I might still be at Arby's, still being manipulated into doing a hard, dangerous, greasy, gross job at a quick service resturant.

A word to the wise: don't be forced into taking any job that you do not want to take! Regardless of whether you think you can do it or not, watch how the higher ups treat each other and realize that you will be in the spotlight constantly. Also, don't be afraid to ask for a raise if you know you deserve it. If you're unahppy with your job, find another one! Don't be stupid like me and stick around hoping it'll get better. It won't.
