My spouse and I go to Bahama Breeze a lot because of thier great exotic drinks. We got a Bahama Breeze gift card in the mail& which was good to use at either Olive Garden, Red Lobster, or Bahama Breeze. It came in a nice little post card thanking us for our patronage.
I ordered takeout over the phone for the Olive Garden. When I got there, the waitress claimed she couldn't get the card to swipe any information correctly. They went to get the Manager, and he tells me—the card isn't working. I says to them, well you need to get someone to work it right, because I just got that in the mail. He then tells me that you must have used it, because it says it has been used. Now that got me angry. He said it in front of people at the bar. I said i did not use the card—i just told you i received it in the mail. He goes do you have another form of payment? If not you need to take this card back to the place where you got it and let them fix it.
I blew up. I told them&no! I can not go back through the mail box, and number two, the card is still in it's envelope, and it has not been used. And with that I grabbed my take out and left.
When I got home, I had to go online and find a phone number to the General Manager, who happened after calling around, to be right at the restaurant. When I talked to him, he was—polite, and apologized, but that didn't quite hit it with me.
He spoke as if he already knew about the scam, very cavalier, and almost condescending. He never did explain why the card "didn't work".
Anyway, Beware before you use those cards, because I heard from others that they try the same thing on everybody, who will buy the story and annie up for a meal that they were offered free.
What a rip off way to try to get paying customers to come back, with a gift card in the mail scam!!!
