On the up side:
My husband and I do enjoy going to the applebees in Xenia, Ohio, but not exactly for the food. The food is so so but not anything amazing. We go back for the service by our two favorite bartenders (Jamie and Megan) who we did not know until going into Applebees a few times. They are always so nice and easy to talk to. We also love the male host Trevonte (I hope I spelled his name right!) He is the most polite young man and very sweet. He always runs to get the door for us but makes sure he is also taking care of everyone inside waiting as well. (I work as a bartender and have worked in the restaurant business for years I love people like this!)
On the down side:
We will NEVER eat in the main restaurant again. The service was so aweful! We waited for 10 minutes (no I am not kidding) for a server to come to our table, yet no one showed up. So we went back to the host stand told them what happend and said we would go eat at the bar for better service, which we got thank goodness. Funny that our server, well the girl that was going to be our sever, was relaxing away up at the host stand. What a joke. And she tried to argue with us and said she was on her way over there!
On another evening (2/27) while eating, at the bar of course, Megan was our bartender and everything was normal and just fine. We see the manager wondering around never did we see him talk to anyone but the staff. Very unprofessional if you ask me. Not moments later he was arguing with a server (the server was wrong but thats not the point) the point is he should have taken it to the back! No guest wants to listen to that. Then as we were leaving that manager (I do not know his name, blonde hair guy) and four servers were all leaning against the host stand chatting away as we were leaving and not even looking at the people walking in the door trying to be sat. Luckily Trevonte was hosting and he had another host seat the couple as we were leaving and he got the door for us and smiled and asked us to be safe since it was starting to snow. Such a sweet and wonderful boy. I am so glad at least someone up there at that host stand was caring enough to say goodbye and ask how everything was. Yet the LAZY UNPROFESSIONAL manager could not care what was going on around him, I'm sure he was just ready for the day to be over (it was only 7:30P.M. Suck it up buddy!) If you hate your job that much as a manager then LEAVE! Yet maybe applebees should fire you and hire someone like Trevonte!
