I recieved a letter from this company on Friday 01/11/01 guaranteeing me a $5,000 platinum card with 0% interest and no annual fee. I read all the fine print and it sounded legitimate to me.
I am a struggling student so a $5,000 credit line seemed really good to me - I figured I could pay off my college fees and car insurance. I wrote out a check for the processing fee, sealed the envelope, and left it in my pile of things to do on Monday. However, today (Saturday 01/12/01)
I recieved 2 more similar offers from other companies, so I knew something must be up as I do not have an incredibly well paying job or very good credit.
I am so glad I found this info online, because I'm sure I would've lost a lot of money. My question is - where are these people getting my address, and how can I stop them from continuing such mailings?
I am going to file with the post office and fbi, as well as the florida attorney general as mentioned in previous posts, but if there's more that can be done, please let us all know!
I also want to say thank you to everyone who posted their stories - you really saved my neck! Let's fight this together, everybody - these people are scum who prey on those who need money the most!
