GEHA Takes your money but pays for very little serve, bills you for in service physicians, claim 100% coverage, but pay 80%

Do not believe any positive report you read about GEHA. It is the biggest scam of all. Following the tradition of Indian-giving of the US government, they make many promises on the front end, but renege through contract manipulations. I mean the contract you sign is rarely given to you, and when you view later what you thought you signed, it is something completely different. I signed up for their insurance and paid their high deductibles for what was said to be 100% coverage of health insurance. I made sure that I only went to health-care providers who were within the network.in spite of all of this, every time I turn around, I am getting bill from a hospital, minor med (urgent care center), and it seems everyone in the hospital who so much as said 'Hello.'

All of these things were supposedly covered under my 'great' GEHA insurance, so I called GEHA customer service, and what do I find out? They only cover 80% of hospital costs. I had no idea, so I asked (very angrily of course) for a copy of everything I signed with these people, which was not provided to me when I signed up. The contract said nothing except that I had GEHA high plan. The coverage had to be viewed on their website, which of course can change at their whim. If they went down in coverage, then the amount I pay per month should have gone down, but it seems to increase a bit every year. Also, the cost of seeing a GEHA in-network minor med without insurance is exactly how much I am having to pay them since GEHA doesn't cover some costs for some reason, although I had to pay the GEHA co-pay. I contacted GEHA about this, and they don't know anything. I would have had to pay the same costs if I didn't have any insurance at all. No, scratch that. I would have to pay less, because I wouldn't have to pay a co-pay and then turn around and pay the price as if I were not using insurance.

You can't even complain to Insurance reporting agencies about this since GEHA is 'government' insurance. Bottom line: GEHA is great if you are a health-care provider since they get your co-pay, and the price if you had no insurance at all; its great for GEHA because they take your money, and claim they pay 80% after promising 100%, and renege even on the 80% sometimes, leaving you with lots of ridiculously high medical bills. If you actually use insurance for what you are paying insurance for, GEHA will twist, turn, renege, feign innocence at the drastic changes to your service, and ultimately get away with all of this leaving you with a really big bill if you actually have to stay in a hospital.

All insurance companies are crooks to some degree. But the absolute worst non-GEHA insurance company can walk on water compared to GEHA.
