The company, PMT Protect, made an unauthorized ACH Debit for $30.00 from my checking account. I have never done business with, nor even heard of this company until I saw it on my bank statement today. After conducting a quick Google search, it seems that I am not alone and this company has been stealing from people for quite some time.
I contacted my bank and received a phone number associated with the debit. Upon calling the number provided (1-866-233-8422) I was refused any information on the companies the number represented (they rep said they work for many different companies) unless I provided them with my name, phone number, SSN, bank name and DOB! I refused to divulge that information, of course, because I do not give out personal information on a regular basis.
I have reported this company to my bank, the BBB and ic3. Gov.
