Ron Balsalmo phoned me 4/8/09 with an offer to have my current mortgage reviewed and corrected. He claimed to be working for lawyers who were well versed in the federal housing bill. He stated that any small error or term was enough to make myy finance company provide me with a lesser rate. He further stated that my finance company would receive 1,000 yearly for three years off the principal, that all late fees and charges would vanish, and that my new motgage would have the interest rate of 3%. My monthly payment would be lowered from 616 to 480 mo., saving me 2,284$ yearly. My combined balance would be reduced by approx 8,000 to 70,000 and any missed mortgage payments would be forgiven.
All this on paper as loss mitigation. Iwas surprised and interested and was not aware of the new federal terms to avoid forclosure. Mr. Balsalmo contacted me again that week with a promise to put in writing all terms as he had stated. I received a fax from his supervisor Glen Small stating that if the terms were not met, I would be refuned the fee of 2,500. I did not receive the loan modifications and my fee has not been reimbursed. I soke to an HUD agent who stated this was a definite ripoff as HALC could not promise any mod. And could only fax my documents to my mortgage co. There is no law stating my mortgage co. Has to grant any terms based on a forensic analysis of my loan.
