Chris O'Driscoll, PFC's sales rep in Northern California, promised in writing a discount rate on our credit card transactions of 2.2%. When the actual discount rate was 3.8%, he referred me to the home office for explanation.
No one at the home office in Greeley, CO would return my phone calls. When I did finally pin someone down, they said that they would research the discount rate, but they never did. This has been my experience with them overall, they avoid their customers after they sign you up.
O'Driscoll further hooked me into signing a 5 year lease totalling $2500 for a credit card swipe machine, which I later found out could be purchased for about $225. O'Driscoll said that the only way to get the machine was to lease it. I am still stuck with the lease.
When I got fed up with the overcharges and the runarounds, I tried to cancel my 2 accounts with PFC using Certified Mail Letters with Signed Return Receipts. They still didn't cancel my accounts and continued to charge the monthly minimum charges.
After I finally (I think) got the accounts cancelled, the final insult was $580 in early termination fees.
I have been in business for 34 years, and I have seen my share of scams and frauds, but this one stands out. When someone sits across the desk from you and lies and misrepresents, it is hard to protect yourself. I estimate that PFC cheated me out of about $10,000 in just 1 year through overcharges and misrepresentations. Because you have to give them access to your bank account for deposits and fees, they can do just about whatever they please. Protect yourself—beware pfc payment solutions.
