I requested a balance transfer from my credit card issuer RBS after they offered me a 0% interest rate. I was informed that the balance transfer fee would be $99. When I received my statement it showed the 99.00 as total finance charges. On my next statement they charged me finance charges in excess of 18% on the $99 balance transfer fee. I called customer service and they said there is nothing they could do. The only way to stop paying the 18% interest was to pay off the whole balance.
