Office of Financial Services and Administration Scam (OFSA)
I received an "official" looking letter from OFSA in September stating that "$182,569, 351.00 in agency funds is available for all eligible claimants." They also wrote in the letter that "Upon your prompt and valid response to this Official Notification, you are assured an initial incentive payment in cash".
Because I am experiencing financial difficulty, I sent to them a check for $20. Thinking I would be receiving money or a grant. I am so upset that I was deceived by them.
The address that I received it from was: P.O. Box 5032, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5032 and it was signed by the "director" whose name is F.C. Overton.
They also stated in the letter that "the deadline for issuing your incentive check shall be strictly observed. You are thus advised to respond of this Official Notification immediately and as follows: 1) Complete and detach OFSA Form 1080; 2) Enclose the fee required for grant documentation ($20.) 3) Mail OFSA Form 1080 and your fee immediately... Your check is assured. Do not delay your response in this matter."
I don't know how many more others are victim to these letters.in the financial crisis of this country, I feel that organizations such as this one should stop giving "false hope" to people who are experiencing financial difficulty.
