I applied for a loan online and shortly thereafter i was contacted by phone from a representative from riverside lenders. She said her name was debbie mckay and i had been approved for a $5000.00 loan. I would however have to pay $798.00 down and then the funds would be transferred to my checking account within 3-4 hours. She faxed me some loan documents which i filled out and faxed back to her. I was then instructed to wire the money via moneygram to a name and address in cananda. I asked why canada and the explanation i recieved was that the company who secured my loan was in cananda. That just did not sit well with me. I told her i would i was at walmart about to wire the money and would call her as soon as i did, however i didn't. The next day ms mckay called to inquire about the wire transfer. I told her i was wary about sending my money to cananda. I asked her if they had any references or websites i could research. She said i could check out www.riverside lenders.org. I tried that site instead i found riverside lending.org which doesn't provide much info at all. No conact information or anything. Just a few testimonials about people who supposedly dealt with them. Eventually i told ms mckay that i would not send my money to them because they did not seem legite. She told me it was up to me. I noticed a couple more things that looked suspicious. The tel number that i was given for riverside lenders is 888-223-6191. Whenever i called i was prompted to give my name before anyone picks up the phone. Also, whenever debbie mckay called me she called from a deifferent number.
I would call that number back was never able to get her. I called the better business bureau to do a check on this company. They told me that this company name was registered in a different state, i don't recall which one. The people who approach me claim to be operating an address in delaware. I called a firend who lives there and they told me that this business does not exist. Everyone beware!!!
