In 2005 my husband and i sold our house. Because we are british subjects, the irs witheld $40,000 which was to be refunded to us within 12 months... Needless to say the irs did not refund this money and three years down the line we were still requesting a refund. As we had to return to the united kingdom on january 9th we went, on 8th january to j k harris to ask for help with the irs. We paid j k harris $4900 up front for their "work"by august we had heard nothing concrete from j k harris this was despite phone calls, e mails, faxes, and even a handwritten letter to the man dealing with the case, frank perdomo. The irs did eventually pay us the outstanding amount owed to us, but we discovered that this had nothing to do with j k harris's intervention... It turns out they had done nothing, not even approached the irs on our behalf. We had to employ a lawyer to recover our monies we paid up front from j k harris. We not only had the fee from the lawyer to pay, but j k harris held onto $500 as a "set up fee".. What they set up, is beyond me as they did no work on our behalf whatsoever. I have been on the complaints web site of j k harris and have discovered hundreds and hundreds of complaints against this company. What i cannot understand is that if this company were in the uk carrying on as they are, they would be investigated and shut down... Surely this must be the same here in america.
