I came in with my father in July to open a checking account with you at the wachovia bank on lincoln rd. When my account was opened we specifically talked about overdraft charges and requested that if there were not adequate funds in my account the card would be declined and thus no overdrafte fee would occur. I was promised at this time that Francisco would active a feature that would prevent overdrafting. However In early January I made a mathmatical error in my checkbook and then made a charge which resulted in an overdraft. Since the card went through I did not notice the mathmatical error at the time. I proceeded to spend accordingly, but was unknowingly overdrafting my account. It took me a 2-3 days to notice the error since overdrafting was not supposed to be able to occur with my account. Therefore I would overdraft then a large fee was tacked onto my account which i was not accounting for and was taking me further into the negative. As soon as I noticed the error I went to the Wachovia bank on lincoln rd. To speak with Francisco. He was not there at the time and i was given a promisary note that someone would call me with in 24 hours to speak further on the matter (i still have the paper). Much to my dismay no one ever called. Therefore a few days later I called the wachovia customer service number and they told me that it could take up to two weeks for my promisary note regaurding a call to be honored. So i decided to wait, 2 weeks past and there was no call. I then called the Wachovia on Lincoln several time to try to speak with him and he was either not there or unavailable. Finally I managed to locate his direct office line and called and left a message on his voicemail. However I have never recieved a call back. I finally email this guy which is the only method of communication he would respond to.in response he said that the overdraft protection was not 100% and could not clarify under what circumstances the overdraft protection would work or what percentage of the time it would work.in my case the overdraft protection didn't work 100% of the time, so I was basically promised a feature that wasn't working. The only consolation he could give me was waving the 1st overdraft charge which was by no mean acceptable to me. ThiS occured back in january and I am still fighting with him over the fees. I advise everyone to not bank with Wachovia, they steal your money.
