I have had 3 hospital stays in the last 5 months. During my last stay I missed the monthly payment, and ended up paying it 4 days late. Chase nailed me with 39.00 late fee, and 10.00 transaction fee. I spoke to a Chase Agent to dispute the fees. I explained about my hospitalization and that the payment had been made, requesting the late fee be waived. He refused as did his supervisor.
I figured oh well they won this one, and I would simply focus on paying the card off, and cancel it. Now I've noticed since my phone call to them they bumped my APR from 17% to 29.99% and slapped me with an additional $65 dollar adjustment due to the increased APR, and of course another transaction fee of $10. Payments on $3500 balance now at $141 monthly.
I have never had credit problems before. But now since Chase has started attacking me, I have no doubt where this will lead. My credit score will be destroyed, and all my other creditors (vultures) will no doubt boost my APR's as well.
I thought the US government had succeeded in its battle to dismantle to organized crime. Boy was I wrong. The Banking community obviously is rife with criminals, and our government is their minion. GAD what a mess we are all going to be in - when our taxes go to these creeps to fund their disaster in the loan markets. Then the government will probably pay them billions to fix all of our credit problems. Chase will rake in the bucks, while us lowly tax payers will get screwed. Remember the credit union scam in the 80's?
