I got this card a few months ago and haven't had any problems until trying to pay (on-time) this month. I made an online payment 4 days before the deadline and was given a confirmation number which I printed out.
4 days later, I noticed that the payment still had not been processed, and that Credit One had charged me a late fee, finance charge and an over-the-limit fee. I tried calling but could not get through to a representative. They finally called my cell phone and when I asked about the online payment, the representative told me I entered my debit card number incorrectly.
The debit card information is automatically stored in their system, and I never changed it since the last payment that was processed by them the prior month! I told the representative that the number was correct and verified it online. He placed me on hold for 5 minutes and came back and said he was mistaken. It wasn't an incorrect debit number, but an incorrect VPN number from the back of the card. Only 1 problem with this... There is NO place to enter this information in their system. When I told the representative this, he got angry and started arguing and getting extremely defensive. At this point, I demanded to close my account.
I was transfered to Account Services, paid the full amount, bought my account to $0.00 balance and told them to close it! I just logged into my account and it shows a payment, but it doesn't show that the account is closed. Hopefully, they've done this and won't continue to charge me fees!
Basically, this company LIES and when you try to pay your bill on-time, they do not take payment and then charge you astronomical fees. Its a total scam and its not worth the $300 or $400 credit limit they give you.
Hopefully, if you're reading this, you weren't scammed as well. And if you were, I recommend closing your account ASAP.
