Lending tree home loan center promised to do a no doc self employed loan. They wanted a $600 lock fee. I was very hesitatant, and insisted that i send all our information, that the loan officer review the credit with his supervisor and also a processor to make sure some old past credit problems were not going to be an issue. We were under a tight closing schedule and had a $10k earnest monies deposit in jeapordy.
We were very up front, gave every detail about our employment and past history. And even after all that, lending tree said, ok, the loan will work. Even lowered our rate and discount point. Great! Thought we were all on the same page. Then went to processor, she was slow. Not very smart about the process. Then went to underwriting.
Well ended up the credit issues were a problem, and we couldnt do a no doc loan. End of story-no loan - no closing - lost house - out $600 as of today.
I think this up front money deal is going to bring on a class action suit for deceptive advertising.
