Ripoff scam con artists fraud

I received a letter in the mail stating i had been pre-approved for a 5000.00 credit card. After not recieving anything in the mail i checked the company out, which is what i should have done in the first place, and saw that it was a scam. I sent them 49.00 and to this date have not recieved anything. This offer could not have come at a worst time. I was looking to consolidate some bills and have some breathing room.instead im in the hole and rapidly losing trust in any mail offers. This scam was cruel and unpleasant. Please tell me if there is anything i can do to get my money back or just help stop this from happening to anyone else. Emilypharr, Texas
