This time I think I got the best of them. I have dealt with many bill collector's and these guys are the most pitiful...
They had sent me a statement in the mail and called me on the phone. I returned their phone call and was reference to "Lamar"
I asked why after a year and a half, I had not recieved a bill in that time, he could not answer this. Lamar then connected to Michelle for what I do not know, as I didn't ask for her. But within the few momments of our conversation she had asked me if I was on medication, I told her I was highly insulted, she never offered and apology. I mentioned to her that she was out of line. She completely ignored me and proceeded to just go on and on how I was irresponsible and how I have choosen to make a career out of having bad debt. She would not listen, finally she did offer a settlement offer which previously she stated she would not entertain, she constantly contridicted herself during our conversation. She stated she no longer wanted to speak with meon the matter and disconnected the call. Well I don't take things lying down, so I waited a few mins and called back. Asked for Lamar, and then asked him why he put Michelle on the phone when we hadn't even explored this fully also that she was very rude, he went on to say that I was also rude I explained I was quite calm until she kept insulting me.
He stated I had her very upset. His manager got on the line, asked who he was speaking with and I told him he should know he has my file in front of him... Right? Well he didn't. He would not answer any of my questions directly, he kept saying how was I going to pay this bill? He finally said to have my lawyer contact them on this issue and for me not to call back unless I was going to pay on this debt. I explained that if this goes to court a lawyer would offer a reasonable settlement. I used their own tactics on them and drove them crazy, I requested proof of the account and so on. They stated they obtained the account from an outside vendor who purchased the account from Providian. You know it just doesn't make sense that a bill collector would not collect on a debt for almost 2 yrs then turn it over for collection without any previous contact. Of course they could not answer any of several inquries... Needless to say theses folk's do not have any understanding of the collection system...
