Credit Card Scam and rip-off, but I got my money back!

Hello all,

Yes I too fell for this scam over the phone. Same situation offered Mastercard for a program fee of $354.90 get a free Gateway comp. What I got a month later in the mail was a bunch of flyers, no credit card or computer. One was for a STORED value credit card, an offer for a free computer IF you pay for internet service upfront. Booklets of coupons for groceries and restaurants only valid if you join the club. Offer for a free digital camera, satillite dish, and other worthless stuff.

Anyway what I find funny is that when I called to get a refund they told me no refunds because the $354.90 was for a processing fee. I'm thinking processing fee for what... Just putting a bunch of flyers together and a letter not even addressed to me personally in a box? Ridiculous!

Well save your breath everyone because First Link will not refund your money. If they took your money do what the Editor suggested, that's what I had to do in writing to my bank. My situation was a little different. I told my bank that I authorized it at first then cancelled. I was told nothing could be done to get my money back. But when I tried to put a stop with my bank's 800 number the representative messed up and I was misled to believe that something was done to stop this payment from going thru. So in my case it was the banks fault and I got my money back.

So don't tell your bank that you authorized this at first but cancelled because they will then tell you there is nothing they can do because it was authorized over the phone. First Link will not prove that you authorized it with that supposed verification recording... Just a bunch of bull, because it will only prove they lied to us. Just state you want the money refunded under the Federal Regulation E, and if nothing is going to be done about it tell them you will report them to their Federal Reserve Bank... But make sure you know which one so they know your serious about it.

ALSO Please everyone who was ripped of from this company... REPORT THEM! Report them to the BBB, the New York attorney general's office, your state attorney general's office, and also if you did receive your package by USPS mail REPORT them to the USPS as well as it constitutes mail fraud. I have done all this so that it would help in getting these people what they deserve... But it will only happen if you report them to the proper authorities! The more reports the more the authorities will see the red flag with this company!
Good Luck all!
