Disgusting drug ads - Viagra, Avadart, Musinex, etc, etc

Does prescription drug advertizing make you nausious, dizzy, irritable, or sleepy? Do they cause you indegestion, chest pain, blurred vision, embarassment, loss of apetite, cold sweats, and high blood pressure?

Do those dumb cartoons of mucous and other body fluids want to make you puke? Do those so called "male enhancement" ads cause your face to turn five shades of red? Does some dumb ad that drones on about it why you shouldn't take it make you wonder why it's even being advertized in the first place?

Do these ads that graphically describe what they tell you what's wrong and how they can "fix" the problem, then list all their fatal side effects; make you want to throw a brick through your brand new HD flat screen TV? Just what is that little disclaimer about a 'rare but serious side effect' mean? I looked it up... Muscle atrophy???

And the really STUPID part of these drug ads... YOU cannot buy these medications directly! You must "ask your doctor" for a prescription. And what's really bad is many doctors go along with the drug companies... Then all of a sudden things didn't turn out as advertized. As in the case of one cholesterol drug, Vytorin, it doesn't work and was pushed on us anyway! Now there's a new ad for a bone strengthening medication... That's "taken" by I.V.?? Isn't that dangerous? Let alone require a visit to a clinic? How much does that cost? What are it's side effects?

Drug costs are ballistic, there is no doubt of that. Maybe if we bellyache to the FCC and to Congress enough, maybe they'll get those stupid and disgusting ads removed. Then hopefully the cost of medications will come down some.

Isn't it no coincidence that the Greek root word for "Witchcraft" is "Pharmacia"? Where we get "Pharmacy" from. What comes in those little plastic bottles isn't too far removed from what came out of big black pots a few centuries ago. Whether it be a pill or a potion, the same principal applies.
