For about a year I have been what Fidelity calls a customer, because the plan was included when I bought my home. I first called to ask about the service, and the representative spoke highly of everything it would cover. Then I needed a repair. They were quick to send some unknown technician from a company I had never heard of and to collect a $50.00 deposit from me. It was plain, though, that none of my problems would ever be covered. I requested a leak inspection, and the plumber who showed up carried no equipment at all. He told me a plumber must be sent ahead of any leak detection firm. Another time my pipes stopped working, and the person dispatched only informed us that he could do nothing, as Fidelity excludes any job that requires climbing onto a roof.
There are more examples, but the biggest problem with this company is how rude and arrogant its employees are. When you call to find out why a claim was denied, you are met with a condescending tone that I cannot adequately describe. They act like both a technical specialist and a hired contract attorney whose job is to argue against you, even though they clearly are clueless. They toss around technical vocabulary without any training in the subject. The only thing they have been trained to do is to sound as if they know their stuff.
At one stage I asked whether the representative was a plumber, had any plumbing training, had ever worked alongside a plumber, and had even read a book on the subject.
I am an attorney, and hostile people are part of my daily work. I have dealt with individuals looking at 30 years behind bars who were more pleasant than this company. In my whole life, in business and in private, I have never met staff as hostile, impolite and arrogant as the people at Fidelity Warranty.
They promise great coverage, but the moment you try to make use of it, answering the phone seems to serve a single purpose: explaining the reasons you lack coverage.
In short, the problems they do cover are minor ones that cost less to fix on your own than the $50.00 fee. The contractors they send come from companies with poor reputations and show little interest in helping. Their employees are arrogant and hostile. Enter into a contract with them at your own risk!
