In October of last year, my wife and I went to Walter E. Smithe in Vernon Hills to select new furniture for our family room. We met salesperson named Stacy, and she offered to help us in selecting our furniture. Stacy come to our home to measure the room and fit into the furniture. Later, we met several times in a shop in Vernon Hills to confirm the selection of furniture. Almost all the furniture has been selected from books and Stacy designed furniture placement. The cost of furniture was over $ 23,000, I paid over $ 7000 in cash and for the rest I opened SmitheCard $ 15000 with zero interest for 36 months.in late January of this year the furniture were delivered to our house, and it turned out that the furniture was too big and did not fit in to our room. We called to the main office Walter E. Smithe furniture and ask for reselection and for different salesperson. The office manager Tammy agreed to the reselection, but regarding the new salesperson she said that Stacy is knowledgeable interior designer with 8 years of experience and she had been working with high-end customer. Well, as of today Stacy is no longer with Walter E. Smithe…. We hired an independent interior designer to help us to finish our project.in July the furniture were delivered to our house and our room looks great.
The new furniture we reselected cost $ 2250 less then original purchase and I asked to have the balance to be return to us. Tammy G who’s the office manager for Walter E. Smithe has told us that the money cannot be returned and instead of we are welcome to buy more furniture or gift certificate. This is a lot of money and we would like to have it back. The company do not seem to care about our business nor the fact that for last 5 years we spent with them close to $ 100 000 for new furniture.
During all this time between October last year and July this year we had no furniture but we were paying each month for SmitheCard (Household Financial).
I am telling everyone who will listen not to go to Walter E. Smithe, they only about MONEY and they don’t care about customers.
