Please DO NOT CALL! I am a former employee of this company. I tryed for a year to understand how they couild do the things they do. How they could bull face lie to customer after customer. They even made me beleive that I was being brought into their Customer Service Department to "straighten things out". Truth be told, I was great in sales and they needed a new scam artist in customer service to finagle people out of money.
The vacation package you buy is great as long as you are told you will not be on the beach, the all inclusive portion is restricted to Travel Engine customers by the resorts, and you will pay additional fees to Travel Engine when booking.
This all made me feel bad. The only thing that kept me there was knowing that I was the only one who cared enough to try to do something to improve it.
Here is what Travel Engine does...
You get a pop up that says you have won some amount of money, of course some people call. You are then told that you must decide on this call or you loose out. A sales pitch is given for a vacation in Florida, the Bahamas, and Mexico. The pitch is very exciting so you but it. That night your spouse comes home and flips because you have just spent between $498-$798 (whatever the sales person thinks you will pay) without ever speaking to them. You call Travel Engine back to cancel the purchaseand you are told it will be 30 to 60 days before you see a refund.
Your told that an investigation needs to be done for your protection. This is all lies! It's what the Customer Service reps tell you because they certainly cannot tell you that you won't get your refund just because the Operations Director, Phillip Chubb, won't give it to you! Because the company can't afford to pay their employees so your refund is out of the question. They also can't tell you that the merchant account only allows them to refund 10% of sales without being flagged, but they average 40-50% refund request.
The customer Service Reps don't want to be dishonest but they have to in order to stay employed. I know because I have been in almost every postion the company offers. From sales rep., to sales manager, to verification and running cards, to customer service, even working from home. I gave this company every opportunity to prove to me they were not a scam because I beleived in everything they said. Now I have to file in small claims to get my last pay check, they fired me while I was in New Jersey taking care of my dieing grandmother.
Please, if you want a nice vacation, go to a travel agent. Do not fund the illeagal practices of Phillip Chubb, Jim Craige, and Randal Randal (aka RJ.
They do not care about your 20th wedding anniversary, your daughter's graduation vacation gift, or the family vacation you had planned this winter. They only care what they can can screw you out of and how little they can give you for it. The fees they tell you are charged by the resort (holiday fees, transfer fees, extention fees, ect.) are made up, they don't exist. They are just additional fees charged by the company for no reason other than to make additional cash.
I sincerley apologize for any customers out there on the world wide web that I convinced to partake in this mess, and I would advise you to seek leagal council as I have been forced to before it's too late.
That's all I can write now cause I am sick to my stomache with guilt, but I will be on again to let the public in on more insider info on Travel Engine and other scam travel companies that partner with them.
