I signed a 2 yr contract with Gold's Gym in Aiken, SC. When I lost my job I immediately left SC and moved back home to another state. I sent Gold's the cancellation paperwork and key pass thru the US mail. They continued to bill me and when I called them they said that they had never received the paperwork. Now 4 months later since I left SC they are demanding that I pay for the 4 mos plus late fees or else they will put the 4 mos and the remainder of my 2 year contract on my credit report. Some of my co-workers who also got laid off got the same scam from Gold's in Aiken when they tried to cancel their membership.
Gold's works this scam all the time so beware. Unless you hire a lawyer they will get your money.
