Amanda Van Voorst A complaint written about this breede

To whom it may concern, I would like to report an incident regarding Siamese Breeder Amanda Van Voorst of Granite City, IL. It was our intention to buy a Seal Point Siamese male cat from Amanda. Prior to taking the trip to see the cat I had ask her a number of relevant questions over the phone and through email's before making a 5 hour trip to see her.

Although some of the questions that I had asked her were answered satisfactorily, I soon discovered that she had lied to me (or deliberately misled me) concerning some very important information about the purity of her cats. For example, she had told me that she was a registered TCA breeder and I now know that this is indeed not the case.

After long discussion over the phone we decided to visit Amanda at her home. This experience proved to be rather disconcerting. After the five hour drive we arrived at her house which appeared to be some kind of run-down hut. The moment Amanda opened her door I was hit with the unpleasant odor of kitty litter. It was so bad, that it almost took my breath away. Further, internally, her house was in total disrepair. Shortly after, I was greeted at the door by a crossed-eyed lilac seal point, allegedly the mother of the kitten.

After a brief introduction, Amanda tried to sell me a Siamese kitten with very light green/yellow eyes. As the color of the cat's eyes concerned me I promptly asked her of the whereabouts of the cat's father in an endeavor to gain some insight into the cat's genetic makeup.

In response to this, she gave me a story about the father being stolen. I asked her why she didn't tell me this very relevant information over the phone prior to the long trip. She offered no response.

When I asked for the parent's papers, she showed me separate ACA registration papers for both a blue and a lilac point. I therefore challenged her to provide proof of who the real father was. This was the father of the seal point that she offered to sell me.in an attempt to avoid contradiction Amanda kept changing her mind about who the real father was.

After finally deciding on one, I was presented with ACA registration papers for a male seal point, allegedly the
father. Further, the "father" and "mother" had no registered background, other than / the fact that she registered them with ACA. When her unwell-looking cats were let out of their cages, they tried to scratch and hiss at passing cats.

When I told her that I was only interested in purchasing a cat once I had witnessed proof of purity, she seemed outraged with me. I would have liked to express my concerns and anger towards her but I had to restrain myself from letting her know what I really thought. After the whole experience I felt so dirty that I couldn't wait to come home and have a shower.

Amanda has removed her link from TCA's website. Here was her all of the information, as I knew it, when we went to visit her. Her website is no longer available. I can only wonder why...

Yesterday I went to Missouri to pick up a male Seal Point from an allegedly TCA breeder. It was a total disaster and a waste of time! I have been so upset over the whole thing. The whole experience was a total shock. I have learned a lot though. The woman lied to me about everything, even though I had asked her all of the relevant questions that needed asking, which at the time were answered satisfactorily.

I drove 5 hours to be completely lied to.in a nut shell, when I arrive to her house that seemed to look like a run down hut, she tried to sell me a Siamese kitten that had very light green/yellow centered and out corners, very light blue eyes. She gave me a story about the father been stolen. I asked her why she didn't tell me before making the trip. The mother was crossed eyed.

When I asked for prove of registration, she kept changing her mind about who the real father was. Her female and male had no registered background, other than the fact they she registered them with ACA. Big Deal! She had cats in cages. When she did let them out, they tried to scratch and hiss the other cats.

The house stunk/rigged of kitty litter. The other cats that she did have, looked unwell. When I told her that I'm only interested in doing the right, she seemed outraged. "I won't buy a cat unless you can prove who the parents are". I wanted to say more, but I had to restrain myself from really letting her know what I really felt.

I couldn't wait to come home and have a shower. You can bet that I'm going to ask and ask questions until I'm satisfied
