The book I purchased is unreadable. I didn't know, when I bought the book from Amazon, that it was digitally photographed and put into book form.
Only after physically looking at the book did I see how poorly it was edited. The disclaimer in the front of the book tells how it was made and General Books LLC signs off on any liability. They freely admit to errors and the possibility that the text is not complete. This is not advertised when one looks on line at the book. One learns after the fact.
If you want to contact the company, you get an email address only. There is no physical address that I could find, nor a phone number.
When I looked on line, it was readable. But, the received product is not. If I were a student, or just interested in learning about this battle, and the participants, this book would be worthless.
It reads like a very large coded message.
If I want to read this book, I have to literally re-write it. Fortunately I have the knowledge and skills to do this without changing a word of what Edward Marshall wrote.
But, I pity anyone without sound knowledge of the Rough Riders, or the battles for Kettle, and San Juan Hill, who buys this book hoping to learn a bit of American History from one who was there to report on it.
