Beware of pack Rat store and move company. I rented a unit from them out of Denver Co, with the intent to have my stuff stored then delivered to a Pack Rat facility near my new destination, Las Vegas Nevada.
After seven months of storage at $198.00 per month I called them to have my unit delivered to my new address. They took $1626.00 dollars from my account gave me an expected delivery date, and no Pack Rat Pod showed up.
I received an e-mail from Pack Rat that said Sorry we can't deliver your pod but for $85.00 an hour we can have two men in a car come to the denver Co facility and transfer your contents of your Pack Rat to another Pack Rat and then we can deliver it to your new address.
When I asked what is wrong with the Pack Rat that I have my stuff stored in why do I need movers to transfer my stuff to a new Pack Rat they told me that the wrong unit was rented to me and the unit I have is not for a long distance move. I asked how does this happen, no answer.
This might not have seemed like a big deal to most people But... I no longer lived in Denver, I had relocated to las vegas.
They actually said to me" we can have the movers cut the locks on your pod transfer your things".
I said to them how do I know that what I have in my pod will all go into the new pod if I'm not there to supervise. Again no answer.
They had me over a barrel my familys belongings are in Denver and I'm in las Vegas I had no choice but to drive back to Denver to take care of this matter.
When I arrived they had no idea I was comming, there were no movers and no new pod. Finally two hours after my appointment time two men in a car showed up. My things were transfered at the rate of $85.00 per hour.
One would think that that would be the end of it but I asked the local Pack Rat facility what was the difference in the pods. The NON transforable pod looked just the the long haul pod. I was told there is NO difference it's because they rented me a pod with a local storage serial number and Pack Rat would not allow this out of state.
I couldn't believe it a serial number they make this kind of mistake won't even admit to it. I contacted Pack Rat and they would not back there 100% guarantee I couldn't even get my call returned I had to keep calling to finally get someone to talk to me.
The only thing they would do is pay the $170.00 for the two men in a car. That did not even cover the damage they caused to my belongings. They would not cover any of my expenses to travel 1400 miles round trip to cover there mistake.
I don't understand how they can treat people this way. I'm sure I'm probably not the only one.
Please be aware of this company once they have your money there is no guarantee.
