I have had the same exact problem that others have had. I looked fingerhut's number up on the internet and was informed when I called that they are a different company. I did not even know of this problem except the letter that I once recieved but that had been six or seven months ago.
When I was applying for a home loan I was asked about it. I called RJM and questioned them. That was a joke. I have called them back since and told them that under the fair act they must provided me with signed verification and if they do not I will file suit.
They have now removed the information with just that one little call. Also, I would recommend reporting this to the FTC. Maybe if enough people complain something will be done. Hope this helps everyone. Just call them and state the above and be sure and let them know you are aware of your rights.
