A young woman named, Shelly Johnson, came to my door stating that she was solicitating for her high school software team selling magazines for a trip to Hawaii. She also stated proceeds would benefit St. Jude's Hospital for Children and our military troops. She said she lived in the next block over and that her mother walked her black lab every day. She was convincing and had answers to all my questions, but after I wrote a post-dated check for almost $200, she gave me receipts that said they were not affiliated with charities, but only after I paid and she was out the door. This took place on Sept 2 in El Lago, TX. As soon as she left I became concerned due to the high costs of the magazines. I looked this company up on the web and discovered it was a SCAM.
