I ask a Danmer Rep about their fire rating on their Synthetic Shutters, since they claim they are fire retardant. The also state that drapes are the #1 cause of fires spreading in the home. It is my understanding that if you claim fire retardant, then you must have a test done to "Fire Rate" the product. This is usually a test done by the American Standard for Testing and Materials and is very expensive. Needless to say, no report was provided. They do have a paper from the Fire Marshall of California, but, no testing. This should not be a selling feature of the product. If someone claims something, especially when it comes to the safety of a family, then the materials ask for, should be provided. Im not saying they do not have the test, if they do, it is to be public information. What do they have to hide when it comes to safety? If they do have a report, then please provide it and a current report at that. It should be by a recognized testing facility also. When it comes to safety, no one should take that kind of risk!
