Bernard Haldane Associates
Ripoff

I was downsized in December. I saw the Bernard Haldane ad in the New York Times. I e-mailed them a copy of my resume. They called me the same day, I scheduled an appointment. I met with a salesman. He too gave me the story that very few positions are found on the web or in the newspaper. The bulk of the available positions are unadvertised. He told me that Bernard Haldane had the contacts and the positions. That day in January, I did not sign up with them. I did not know what the fee was but I knew it would be substantial. A few weeks later this salesman called my home and spoke with my fiancee. He told my fiancee that he has a job for me. At this point, I still did not have employment, so I called him back. I hoped that Bernard Haldane would be able to do something for me, therefore I met with him again. He told me the fee would be $4,900, however, if I paid in full, I would save $500 and the fee would be only $4,400. This is what I paid after thinking about it over the weekend. I only wish that I had paid by credit card instead of personal check. On the day I gave him the money, my fiancee was there with me. He showed us a video tape of how Haldane Associates was featured on CBS news and how important it is to have a Career Counselor. This tape portrayed every client as being successful. They portrayed a mock interview on the tape that was crystal clear. When the time came for my mock interview, I could not even recognize myself, much less hear what I was saying. This tape must have been used a thousand times. I too, was told about the referral process and how by obtaining referral interviews with enough people I would eventually land a position. Needless to say, this has not happened. I am still unemployed. They also told me how underpaid I was in the past position and told me that I could be making at least $30,000 more. However, when I told my counselor that I had an offer that was $30,000 less than I was making, he had nothing to say. This company is a rip off. I cannot understand how they have managed to stay in business for so long. I would like the opportunity to speak with other people in the same situation to find out if they were successful in getting their money returned and how they went about doing it. I am getting my money back!!! MelissaBayside, New York
