Horrible landlords

I recently vacated an apartment leased by G. Page Properties, Ltd.in the Syracuse area. This company is not accredited by the BBB, they did not adhere to the NYS Tenant's Rights Guide; more specifically informing the tenants as to where, and what bank housed our security deposit, nor did they adhere to the rights of privacy clause to provide adequate notice before showing themselves into the residence; the latter of which was brought to a head when I awoke one morning to find my landlord and prospective tenants in my living room, when I pointed out that they were required to provide adequate notice before entering I was greeted with a threat that I wouldn't receive any of my security deposit back. After providing sufficient notice for out termination of the lease and vacating the premises they, (G. Page Properties, Ltd.) inspected the property and we were informed that we would receive our security deposit back in full minus $25 for not sweeping the floors sufficiently enough. We were told our deposit would be returned to us in a timely manner, specifically 30 days after the inspection. As the weeks went by we tried repeatedly to contact them regarding the delay in the return of our security deposit, as a result of these inquiries we were told that "the check was in the mail." 65 days since we vacated the premises we send a demand letter to G. Page Properties, Ltd. Stating that if we did no receive our check within seven days we would be seeking legal action, again we were reassured we would receive the check in full as discussed minus the $25 for not sweeping the floors sufficiently. Seven days later we did receive a check, however it was for $200 less than originally discussed, claiming that the leaking pipes in the bathroom several months earlier would our fault from a "slip and fall". Having never stated that myself nor my roommate had fallen in the bathroom, and having my roommate to attest to that fact seems to do little to deter them from this claim.

I strongly suggest renting elsewhere, as these business practices are inexcusable
