The Marketing Group - Cydcor
Biggest, Deceptive Scam I've Encountered!

I know several people have written about Cydcor and it's various companies and that the reosrts have become repetitive, but something must be done to this company to end all these lies and the deception.

I came across a posting on careerbuilder.com for a company called The Marketing Group in Denver, CO. They described themselves as a "direct marketing firm, representing some of the largest companies in the Fortune 500." They went on to paint a picture of a wonderful company that "creates partnerships through a personal commitment to profitability for our clients and employees. We are also dedicated to the personal and professional growth of our associates and creating life-long business partners." It all sounded to good to pass up, so I submitted my resume and was called in for an interview.

The day of my interview, I walked into a beautiful and professional looking office filled with good looking individuals dressed professionally in suits. It looked very professional and legit. I was called into one of the owners offices. She's an attractive, young blonde with a bubbly personality and a positive attitude. She asked me very few questions and told me little about the company, but stressed the opportunity that awaited you and the money and quick promotions that occured. It sounded like a great opportunity and one that I decided I wanted to be a part of. I was informed that I would be called by six o'clock that evening if they wanted me to come back for a second interview and that I had to be by the phone to receive that call because they would not be leaving voicemails. So, I received the call and went in for my second interview the following Monday.

The second interview was nothing like an interview. I was paired up with what was introduced to me as one of the firms "top executives", whom I learned was really what they referred to as a "leader". She was a passionate, friendly, and bubbly young lady and I spent the day with her doing door to door sales in a suburb that was 30 miles away from the office. I had no idea the job entailed door to door sales, which I was completely against, but as I was explained the compensation, the quick promotions, and the wonderful management training you received, it didn't sound all that bad.

I was offered a position with the company and started the very next day. The girl who conducted my second interview became my leader and trainer and I followed her for three days learning the business and the techniques used to sell. At the time I was told that the hours I would be working would be from 8am to 6pm, that I would receive a $300 training bonus to compensate me for the three days of training I had to complete, and that I would receive 30% of every sale I made. Boy was I deceived!

Once you finish you're training period, you are asked to come in to work at 7:30 every morning and I usually didn't leave the office until 7:30 at night. That 30% I was promised to receive after every sale was actually dropped to 28%. The mornings began with two meetings that began at 8am and didn't end until 9:45, at which time you were sent out into the field to go business to business to sell office supplies.

I was given a poor territory that left no chance to make any money or to succeed. I was told that in order to be promoted, I would have to make 2-3 sales per day for one week and earn $1000 in personal profit. Two weeks in, another guy who was hired almost a week after me was promoted and I couldn't understand why. I didn't focus too much on it and continued to work hard. I came to find out that my boss picks and chooses who she wants to promote - there's no rhyme or reason to it.

This week is my third week with the company and just last night I was told the coniving and dishonest practices of this company. I was so excited to be working with this company and thought it would be the career of a lifetime. I was fortunate enough to be paired with a wonderful and honest trainer who did some research and found out all the lies and the scandal behind this company and she met with me last night to share them with me.

The poor girl had no idea all this was going on and felt so horrible because she's trained 35 people in the last two months and lied to every single one of us and had no idea. At least she had the decentcy to come forward and share this pertinent information with us so that we wouldn't be taken advantage of anymore.

The particular branch in Denver that I worked for has two owners. My trainer found out that one of these owners has five lawsuits against him - 2 rape charges for raping two girls at an office he opened in Virginia, 2 racism charges for the office he opened in San Francisco, and 1 charge for sexual harassment from the office he worked in in Oklahoma. He has been gone from our office for the past week and a half and my trainer confronted my boss about it and she told some of us he was on vacation, and she told others he was awaiting the renewal of his visa - both of which were lies. He is actually dealing with the consequences of his actions.

All this stuff could be found on the web, which is where my trainer got it from, but since our boss has figured out that we know what's going on, she had her assistant delete any information off the web that pertained to this particular Denver office.

My trainer also lived with my boss who is the second owner, and overheard all the deceitful and coniving things she executed with the company. She lied to all of us and told us that once you reach the third promotion, you receive salary. No one receives salary, including the owner. Everything is 100% commission. Once you're a "leader", you get a small portion of the commission from your trainees. The owner gets the rest. When you're an assistant manager, you receive a larger amount of the commission from the trainees and the trainers themselves. The owner receives the largest percentage of commission and it comes from everyone in the office.

This entire company is built on manipulation and fraud and it should be shut down! I quit today and found out I will not be receiving any of the money I earned over my time there. My boss was caught taking money from our personal commission accounts and entering them into her own. Flat out stealing! They think they can get away with this and they are sorely mistaken! You spend more money on the gas and repairs to your car (you have to provide your own transortation) than you earn. You are told that all your expenses are deducted from your taxes. That's a load of bull too!

Everything about this company is a lie and I thank my wonderful and honest trainer for opening my eyes to it all. Stay away from this company at all costs!!!
