Air Power Marketing has a warehouse in Orange City, Florida, where they manufacture tents with the Dodge, Chrysler, Cadillac, Ford, Chevrolet, Hyundai and other logos printed on them without authorization from those corporations. They rent the tents to the suffering automobile dealers throughout Florida, sometimes for $3,000 per weekend, claiming they will help attract customers to their lots.
They also claim they will sponsor tent sales for those dealers, sometimes in a K-Mart parking lot. They tell K-Mart that they will purchase hundreds of gift cards to pass out to the customers looking to buy a car, when in fact they keep the gift cards themselves and give them to family members or use the cards themselves, never once passing them on to a customer to use in that store. The cards end up in other states and other K-Marts and the store leasing their parking never benefits from the cards. All part of the scam to lease the lot at a lower rate.
They rent and set up cold air balloons at businesses throughout Florida on Friday night and take them down on Sunday night because they don't get permits for the balloons. They know that city employees don't work on the weekends and it would be difficult to fine them for a code violation.
The owner said that one auto dealer, Tami Auto Sales in Orlando, recently settled a lawsuit against Air Power Marketing because they cashed several thousand dollars in checks from the auto dealer for tent sales which they never carried out.
When Air Power Marketing comes knocking on your door, the best thing you can do for your automobile business is run the other way.
