We wanted to change our son's last name, when we went to our local court house they said we had to have "paternty" so we looked online and found fathers choice. They called us quickly after contacting them. Their pitch sounded really good. They said we can cancel anytime before our billing date. He had us write down a few numbers to tell the other guy we'd be talking to later that day. We grabbed our credit card and signed up!
The initial interview we did took like 2 hours. We talked to several different people, which we though to be a little weird. After that they emailed us the info we just told them to check for errors. There were several errors. We went to office max and faxed the errors back within 24 hours as stated. Which cost us a hefty 22$! Talking to them over the next few days they said they'd even include the name change paper work for us! (becasue our local court said we'd have to have paternaty first) After that they UPS our papers to us. We open it up... There are 2 papers in it. 2. Nothing about the name change as promised. Were a little confused and disappointed.
Well, our local court house called us and schedulled a court date for the name change. Went to court. The judge granted us the name change! Yay. So when we went to pick up the papers for the granted name change we tried to file the custody papers from fathers choice. They turned us away saying "These are not all the papers you need for custody" We told them we are paying laywers to fill these out and this is what they gave us!" She would not let us file.
So we emailed fathers choice. No response. We emailed again. Nothing. We sent a email saying how unhappy we were with fathers choice. Nothing. Called. No call back. (they say they call back within 24 hours) Nothing. Nothing. Nothing. I started to google "fathers choice compalints" And found ALOT of stuff. Now we feel stupid. Everyone is having the same problem as we are... We called to cancel our membership the day BEFORE it was to renew! They took down our name and phone # etc etc. And said they'd call with in 24 hours... We got the confirmation cancelation email... And guess what? It renewed today. No one has called us within the 24 hour period as promised. We're still being charged, no one with return our emails, phone calls nothing! We don't know what to do. I'm also filling out a BBB report. I feel scammed and taken advantage of. It seems there is no way to stop this company? We will take part in any class action lawsuit. I wonder if anyone has ever gotten their refund?
