Pretty much the same story as I've read before. I was putting gas in my car when a white van pulled up with two guys in it. The driver wanted to ask me an "unusual question". I, thinking that he was going to ask for directions, said "ok". He then proceeded to try and sell me these speakers. He showed me a magazine, and an inventory report... Claimed that they had some extra speakers put in the van.
On the box, they say they are worth $1500 each, so for two speakers: $3000. My first instinct was not to buy them. But the more I talked to him, the more legit it seemed. He knew all about them, had some paperwork to back up his story. So I finally, and still a little reluctantly bought the speakers.
I should have gone with my instinct and told them to get lost. Live and learn, right?
I then saw the same, or similar, van the next day, trying to get someone to pull over and check out the speakers. They pulled over into a gas station, and I can only hope that the guy was smarter than I was! I was going to pull in by them and try to get my money back and warn the guy in the car, but didn't have time. I didn't think to write down the license plate number.
The only information I have on these two yahoo's is that their van plates are from Illinois, one of the guy's names is Leonard J. Jablon Jr. (At least that's what his ID said) also from Illinois. He's a heavier set guy and only about 5 feet 6 inches tall.
Hopefully we can find these guys and put a stop to this scamming. Or at least prevent others from getting ripped off, as I did, if I can't get my money back.
