I submitted an idea to the Patent and Trademark Institute of America and within days a person by the name of Pat Rolston called me. He kept calling daily stating they were reviewing my idea and it looks really successful, saying he has had several meetings with his bosses, etc. I was charged $800 for a patent search, and in return I was sent a New Product Portfolio, and was also told that my idea was patentable and the search came back negative meaning there was nothing found to be like my idea.
However, after I paid for there services I found my idea in a magazine and actually bought one and found that it was already patented. Anyway, after the patent search Pat Rolston called and did his speech and talked me into paying $9,000 for a patent. Once they received my money, I have not heard from Pat Rolston since, and he would never return any of my phone calls. They hired an attorney by the name of Donald R. Schoonover to do the patent work. He supposedly submitted the paperwork in October of and I have yet to see my patent. I'm lucky if I call him and he answers, but if I leave a message or send him an email, I never hear back from him. I called the United States Patent and Trademark Office to follow up, and to my surprise I found that he only applied for a design patent, which is basically useless and I paid $9,000 for that!
Occasionally I receive letters from them stating that a company is interested in my idea, but they are always in some other country, etc. And never respond back to my letters.in all, this company has taken me for almost $10,000 which is alot of money for me and basically was all I had. I was lead to believe my idea would make it big. I would love to see someone go after this company and the attorney and give some satisfaction to all the people that have been taken by this scam.
