About two years ago this kid came up to me (at the University of New Mexico) while I was trying to go to class. He said he was trying to win a contest by selling the most magazine subscriptions. The contest prize was a trip to France. He was a cute little guy and very nice and not pushy, so I gave him $40 cash for a years subscription to Modern Bride. He told me to hold on to the receipt and I could contact the company and get my money back if I was unsatisfied.
I lost the receipt not too long after that and of course. I never received any magazines in the mail. When I moved about six months ago, I came across the receipt in the bottom of a drawer full of junk. There is no phone number on the receipt, just a website.
So I went to the website, and it is not even real! It is like a search-engine more than a website. If you click on Contact Us (as in get our email, phone number, mailing address, etc) it just gives you all of these web addresses where you can get contact lenses!
There is also a link you can click that says "Never Received Your Subscription" or something like that, and the only place that sends you is a list of all these links where you can order magazines from various companies.
Since then, I have had three people come to me on campus or knock on my door at home, and no matter which company they are representing, I say hell no. Sorry that some idiots have to ruin it for everyone!
