Won't allow my 4 year old to call his dad! Co

I've had this service for over three months now, after having called up and asked all the pertinent questions about internet speeds and usage limits. During that inital phone call, they said I could run as many computers as I wanted to through the wireless connection, and there were no limits on data usage.

Five days later, the router arrives, and I take it out of the box. The only piece of documentation with it is a single sheet of paper, a "Quick Start Guide, " that essentially says: plug it in, find a spot in your home where it get the most signal, and you're ready to go.

The next day, the internet went out. There were no troubleshooting instructions, just a phone number for customer service. I called the number, Left a voice mail, they never got back to me.

Since then, it goes out about once a night. Usually I don't notice, as I'm not up really late, except that I have to power-cycle the router every morning.

The speeds are horrible. My son video conferences with his father in Israel, and if we're lucky, the connection might be good enough to get through 90% of a call without the video going out. There were no instructions as to how to set up a secure connection, and I actually didn't know that I could until today.

Today, I received an email (while I was at work) stating that my usage has exceeded the maximum allowable usage, and that they would be throttling my internet speed effective tomorrow for 30 days.

This is the first communication I have received from them since they dug their greasy talons into my checking account. I was given no recourse. No way of saying "well, then I'm throttling back my monthly payment until such time as you see fit to provide the service you promised."

Now, my son can barely talk to his father with the speeds they allow me right now. My 4 year old boy, who had no say in his father leaving for Israel, or in the service provider that was supposed to give him the means to see him anyway, will now be left without any video capabilities at all, maybe even without the ability to talk to his dad.

I called the company, explained the situation to them, said, can you at least let me get home and set up a secure connection, they said, no, we're throttling your internet service and there is nothing that can be done about it. I told the rep that I was told there were no limits on data usage, and she said "the information was available on our website." Has anyone out there read "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy?" Because I can hear bulldozers.

Don't fall for this company's scam. If it seems to good to be true, there's probably some knuckle-dragging meth-head prepared to reap in your hard earned money. That's the way it always goes. I need to find an internet service provider before tomorrow so my little boy can talk to his dad.
