On Monday, February 8 at about 12.15 PM I opened my internet for want of necessary guidance as how to apply for postal examination. The web name is www.POSTALEXAMOFFICE.com. There was a monogram of Official Postal insignia. I thought it was an official website of US Postal Department. On the web page there was an advise for studying the Postal Exam Guide. The price of the guide was mentioned as $29.95, for which they were asking for Banks Credit Card information. I typed the relevant information. They uploaded the Guide on my Email. No postal delivery or any other type of service was required.
On Feburuary 09 I checked my Bank Account wherein $49.94 were charged instead of $29.95 as was mentioned in the website. I rushed to my Bank and told them about the overcharging. There were funds available for payment of $29.95 but they overcharged by $19.94 thereby my account went into debit and the Bank also charged $25 on account of insufficient funds. Thus a Book which originally costed $29.95 has been amounted to me to $74.94.
This act of the respective Company is considered to be rip-off. I tried to call the Company but they did not respond to my call. I sent an Email to them but they did not respond till now.
The Bank (Chase Bank) also did not help me in resolving the matter. They verbally told me to contact Business Bureau. Since I do not have the address of the Company the BBB did not entertain my complaint. Since this a web based scam which can be traced by the Agencies having access/control over the internet.
The matter is being reported for taking appropriate action against the defaulters as considered appropriate. I have the billing information, confirmation of my account & Bank statement showing relevant transactions which can be supplied on demand.
