Paypal Copycat Fraud
Oh the Irony! Sophisticated Paypal copy-cat got my acct # by notifying me of FRAUD! Internet Based

We opened an Email addressed, "Dear Paypal Member". It claimed to be a confirmation of an $89.15 purchase to "research.com". One of the links available was "dispute this transaction". Linking to that site showed a very well done fake site (all the collaterol, lots of site depth, etc.). To dispute the transaction we were directed to fill out a form including the affiliated Paypal card #, name, security code and PIN. We did all but the PIN.

Then, in trying to research the PIN, we called Paypal. Their recording said that any contact from them always addresses the member by first and last name. So we knew we were being hit, but by then the Copycat site had picked our pocket. The Paypal Representative, when he finally came on (it was a Sunday) was very helpful, confirming there was no such charge, etc., but we did have to go through the whole credit card replacement thing. Watch Out - it must be fairly easy, very profitable and difficult to police these flimflammers!
