On 12/15/08 I turned on my cell phone around 7pm after getting home from work. I immediately received 4 text messages from a 5 digit number I did not recognize. After researching the number online, I found it was attached to this company. I called the Customer Service number and they told me my cell phone was subscribed to their text alerts service at 10:59 Mountain Time (12:59pm Eastern). They said in order to subscribe, a passcode sent to my phone had to be entered on their website. However, I didn't even receive the text message with the passcode until 7:10pm, so how could I have been subscribed at 12:59pm? They told me they could not reverse the charges but would send me a refund check.
All I can do is wait and see if that shows up. They denied any responsibility and said someone had to have typed in the passcode on their website in order for my cell number to be subscribed.
