Career Network - thebestcareersource.com Asking for personal, professional references in their on-line form for bogus jobs posted on craigslist

I applied for a job via cragslist for an Exeuctive Assistant and received the following email reply with the link attached that led to a website asking on first 2 pages about colleged education, insurance, whatever. Some legitimate ones, such as monster do this, so wasn't too worried, but the 3rd page asking for personal and professional reference information on-line with phone numbers before anyone has even spoke to me personal via email or otherwise, I knew was wrong. I filled out fake names and numbers.

The clue: legitimate agencies even the on-line ones, and there are some, would never ask for this information on a real job until you are actually in the running and going on an interview. Why would they bother at this time with additional reference information? It's not the typical time frame during application process.

They have your resume, and first step is to follow up with companies to be sure your resume is legitimate, but don't forget, when you go into an agency, you have to 'sign' with your signature, that information is true, and on a form where they tell you they are going to check references. People in this day an age, are weary when someone calls on the phone or knocks on the door, but amazingly give any and all information to unidentified, unverified people on the internet.

Hello... If you're not sure, ask yourself, if someone came to your door, and asked these questions in person, but without showing any identification that there was a real company or job, would you give it to them?

I will also be putting a report into craigslist, and by the way, I happen to be going to an agency interview with VOLT and I'll be asking them if they gave permission for this bogus website to post jobs that look real on the job list, but if you notice, there is no city posted. How would you really know which ones to apply to. All of their jobs on the website list look like they are streaming through from agencies, as I have seem some legitimate job search sites do this, which sometimes is helpful to get a lot of areas of reference, but I seriously doubt any of theirs are real.

I worked in conjunction with the FBI, Homeland Security and other legal agencies in supporting the VP of my company at a lender investigate fraudsters, and help identity theft victims. I also just recently found out where I bought my used car at supposedly a real dealership was on the news Douglass Nissan in Anahiem, CA, that they were actually selling id's of the consumers. Something else now. All I want is a job and a peaceful life. It's almost like the internet needs to go away. I don't think they will ever be able to regulate it. But it's up to us, the consumers to ask questions first, investigate first. Be Aware.

Here's the email I got, just so others may recognize, before they add info to the site. I know I will look up every company and website I deal with here at complaint before I do anything. Thank you for this site!
