Doing a google search for a comicbook, i was given "download nova" as a hit! Once you enter the site, you find exactly what you want but you need to become a member 1st. Since this sounds logical, you proceed, only to be told that you need to pay a "1 Time" activation membership fee or something to help keep the site up. Well, it was only about $4.87, so you go on and input your credit card info, and "voila" successful entry! Only when you try to get what you were looking for in the 1st place, it's no longer there. The HIT page (even if you just backtrack your explorer) says the file you "found" does not exist! Frustrated, i shut off my computer and wrote-off the $4.87.
The following day, i tried to get back to "download nova" but can't find the stupid site. When i tried to google it, i was lucky enough to find an article on "ripoff report". It said my "1 Time" fee is a start to monthly membership deductions!
Panicking, i checked my email confirmation to the transaction and went back to cancel whatever it was i unintentionally signed on for. I found out that I have 3-day trial charges to 3 sites totalling $6.87, plus, automatic monthly renewed memberships to "www.megadownloadpass.com for $39.73 monthly", "www.vipbookmark.com for $39.73 monthly", "www.discountvideopass.com for $9.82 monthly" processed via "https://secure. Jettisintl.com". Worse, these sites were all adult sites!
I immediately went on to cancel all the automatic monthly subscriptions that were somehow tacked on to my "1 Time" fee. I can't stop worrying whether the cancellations were successful, and whether my credit card info will somehow be used for some other online transaction!
It was really lucky that i found the "ripoff report" site and article, i truly hope i was able to cut my losses to a minimum. I cross my fingers and hope this report can help someone else too.
