HollywoodProfiles.com has listed their company in many classified ads and on Craigslist.com (they never list their name in the ad). I replied to one of their ads which falsely claimed that their company would provide me with a profile, and access to hundreds of casting and talent agencies for only $1.95. There was NO mention of additional charges. They give you an option to "upgrade" your account and pay more for for a complete profile with exclusive access to the best jobs as they become available (which I did not choose).
After spending over 30 minutes filling out the form, I got to the end, submitted my profile, and received an error message (my profile never went through after trying numerous times). The $1.95 was taken out of my account, because you have to agree to this charge before completing the profile form.
Two weeks later, I noticed a charge for $49.95 in my checking account from HollywoodProfiles.com (the charge read: "CASTNG&TAL8005096932"). This was a complete surprise to me, since (1) I never received the services they claimed to offer for $1.95, and
(2) I was careful not to sign ANYTHING stating that I agreed to a charge after a trial period, etc.
I called my bank, and they're going to dispute the charge. Please don't be fooled by these people—DO NOT give them your checking account information (or credit card info)! I had to change all of my checking information today so this company can't charge anything else to my account.
