Optical Impressions
Summerville S.C. Owner very out of control and unwilling to help

On 4-11-08 I purchased a set of transitions glasses from optical impressions in summerville SC. They also have a location in Charleston at 8096-A Rivers Ave. The phone there is 843-818. I went back the next day to report that there was a problem with the lense. Along the edge where it fits into the frame there was a bad cut which when the light hit it it would basically light up the lense with a prism effect. The 2 sales people that I had been dealing with saw it right away and took posession of the glasses to have them corrected. Several days later I got the call that the glasses needed to be picked up. I went and found out that they never even left the store to go to the Charleston store for the repair. They said the Dr/Owner said there was not a problem with them and refused to fix them. I refused to accept them and again dealing with the very nice sales people who informed me that the Dr/Owner was a hard person to deal with. 2 weeks later I finally got a call from the Dr/Owner and he asked me to come down to pick up the glasses. I got there and found out yet again that the glasses never left the store. He was there and jumped all over me verbally telling me that I have no idea what I am talking about, that he is the Dr not me. I told him that I know when there is a problem and tried very hard to get him to calm down enough to show him the problem that he refused to accept was even possible. He got so irate he told me to leave his store before he called the police and had me removed. I told him to go ahead that he is the one in the wrong not me. I demanded that before he picked up the phone that he let me show him what I was trying to get fixed. He said again you know nothing about glasses except how to put them on. I am educated in this field. When you can show me your proof of education I might look" The sales girl said to him "Could you just let him show you?" He huffed and angerly joined me as I walked toward the window. As he approached I was moving the glasses in the light and he cought a glimps of what I was trying for 3 weeks to get fixed on a brand new pair of glasses. He took the glasses from me and looked at them and kindly said "Oh, now I see. I can have them fixed for you tomorrow evening. They just had a rough cut in that spot that needs to be smoothed over." (What an attitude change). I told him that is what I have been saying all along...

Well now it's July 1. I have been wearing glasses since I was 10. I have never had a problem with lenses getting discolored or anything. The lense (Same One) now has a new issue. Looking at it it looks like the tint is pealing off. Well I went back today and talked to yet another nice salse person. He looked at it and told me this is a comon problem that they even had to start using a different maker of the transition lense due to this. He looked at the computer to see when I bought the glasses. 1 year and 2 months ago. Yep a 1 year warranty. He then called the Dr/Owner and asked what could be done. And was informed that the glasses that I paid $233 for Incl tax. Will now cost me $89.00 to get the defective lense repaired. (By the way the receipt does not have any warranty disclaimer on it at all). I told the salesman that I wanted to know when the owner would be in and he told me later today. I told him what happeded when I got the glasses and he was understanding and even kind of uncomfortable about having to confront the owner about this. I asked him to let me know when he got there and I would come over. At 2:30pm I received a call. I answered knowing who it was and the owner in a defensive manor said "What can I do for you?" Not even introducing himself. I asked if the salesman explained what was going on with the glasses and he said yes and you have been told that it would cost $89 to have them repaired" If you want them repaired bring them and the money in. If not never set foot in this store again. If you are not happy with this place don't come" I told him that I wanted them fixed but was not going to pay for something that you know is a defect. He again got defensive and again said pay for the repair or never come here again. Now goodbye. I then got upset and before he hung up called him an A*Hole. Excuse me. This is not me. I usually do not allow people to push me like that but I knew when I went today what/who I was going to be dealing with. Someone who has no PR ability, who does not care about his customers at all excep for their money. Once you make that payment, that is it. No More Mr. Nice Guy... Actually you do not get the honor of meeting this person unless you have a problem. Then he attacks you with all the Non-Pr you could imaging... Oh Doc... Just in case you are reading this. PR is Public Relations. It is what is needed in any type of public based business. Your sales people have more PR and Class in one strand of hair then you could even imagine.
